30.5x40.6 cm ~ Painting, Watercolor
On my visit to Staithes, a coastal village on the North Yorkshire coast some years ago,I took a series of photos which I painted this from. It was a cold and windy day and the buildings of the village seemed far away from this viewpoint without being able to make out much detail so I painted them with minimal details. My main focus was the colourful fishing boats reflecting in the small puddles left behind the tide. The rope of chains on the sand that keep the boats in place created a nice perspective.
Watercolour on 300 gm cotton paper. Size: 16 x 12 inches. Year: 2021.
